What We Support

The Sunnyvale Education Foundation supports a wide variety of initiatives, classes, supplies, and more at the ten schools of the Sunnyvale School District. Every school in SSD benefits.

Through a system of annual grants, SEF is able to help each school fulfill enrichment needs and opportunities. Most of the granted requests fall under one or more of these general categories:

  • Arts and Music
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  • After School Programs
  • Field Trips (including assemblies)
  • Whole Child Wellness
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI)
  • Gardens and Outdoor Learning Spaces

Below is a partial list reflecting the variety of things SEF has funded in recent years. Help us support these and other enrichment initiatives by making a donation to SEF today!

  • Lots of outings. SEF provides funds for field trip buses and admission, so that students can take those trips without the added challenge of securing enough volunteer drivers.
  • Funding for science camp, so that each year all fifth graders can attend without worry or hassle
  • Supplies for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics related activities across the district, including Maker space and lab equipment, hands-on materials, and interactive assemblies.
  • Band shells for better sound. SEF has helped the middle school music programs obtain audio equipment, music software, and performance supplies.
  • Wobble seats. Flexible seating allows students a little wiggle room as they learn and grow.
  • Rejuvenated school gardens. School gardens across the district have gotten fresh irrigation and planting beds. These outdoor materials help extend learning outside of the classroom.
  • New library books. In collaboration with the SSD librarian, every school received a selection of fiction and nonfiction titles. These new books reflect and honor our diverse community and inspire our children to dream big.
  • After school classes, including elementary and middle school drama, math olympiad, robotics, art, and more,
  • Teacher and staff treats, in appreciation of the care and devotion SSD’s professional educators give our children day in and out, making enriched educational opportunities possible for all.
  • Community feedback and a stronger voice in the school district. SEF has hosted roundtable events that bring together school leadership across the district to share knowledge, best practices, and motivation to make each school better.
  • Site-based TB testing for volunteers. SEF has shared with the district funding and insight related to volunteer clearance in an ongoing effort to enable more parents and family members to volunteer at their children’s school(s).
