Support the Sunnyvale Education Foundation

The Sunnyvale Education Foundation had an incredibly successful year with the help of our generous donors! We more than quadrupled our fundraising from $29,500 to $135,000, all of which has or will soon be spent supporting our schools and student activities.

We are committed to helping all schools in the district, and we have funded projects on every campus this past year. For example, we helped students learn to be more compassionate at Bishop and encouraged cross-generational literacy by supporting a bilingual family reading program at Sunnyvale Middle School. We sent San Miguel students to the Exploratorium and helped defray the cost to send fifth graders from across the district to Walden West science camp. In addition, we provided funding to bring the Marine Science Institute’s invertebrates lab to Columbia Middle School and flexible seating to Cherry Chase and Cumberland.

This is possible through the support of our generous donors, community members and parents like you who believe in our students. Your financial contribution will continue to bring field trips, tuberculosis testing, social/emotional health programs, STEM programs, classroom materials, music and art classes, and many other benefits to our students. Donors like you helped us nearly double our commitment to science camp, increasing our grant total from $8,200 last year to $15,000 this year.

Every donation counts! Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

Choral Risers at Columbia Middle School

The Sunnyvale Education Foundation was happy to put money towards choral risers at Columbia Middle School. They have a fabulous music program; music classes teach not only musicianship, but also creativity.

“Education in the arts leads to valued employee creativity in the engineering and science fields.”  – Andrea C.

We’re so proud to support music and the arts!

Congrats Edy!

SEF congratulates Edy Mourtos on her new role as Assistant Superintendent,  Professional Learning and Instructional Support for the Santa Clara County Office of Education and thanks her for the years of partnership! We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Cumberland Elementary with Interim Principal Laurie Carson and Cumberland Elementary PTA.

How we helped: Science at Columbia Middle School

Sunnyvale Education Foundation is proud to have donated $800 toward an event with the Marine Science Institute at Columbia Middle School.

“We really enjoy having the Marine Science Institute come to our school and visit our 7th graders. The students truly value the experience of seeing adaptations in real life, especially considering how animals are from a local source. Thank you for helping make it happen!”
– Evvy Elwood, Science teacher.
